Exclamation Can anyone help?

Our company, The Write Technology Ltd, which publishes this website, as well as Digital Photography Now and Four Thirds User, rents its office space from a charitable trust called the Paper Trail, here in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead. Alas, the Paper Trail, which promotes the local centuries-old heritage that centres around paper manufacturing, is in financial difficulties and could be forced to close early in 2009 if new funding is not secured.

If the Paper Trail does close, we may be forced to move offices, but that's a minor consequence compared to the preservation of a valuable heritage resource.

You can read all about this news on the website of our local paper, the Hemel Hempstead Gazette.

If you can help, please contact us or the Paper Trail directly.

Ian

That really sucks Ian, I wish you and the Paper Trail all the luck in the world to sort this out.

Dear dear... this is the mill by the canal I assume. It is saddening and infuriating that so many excellent activities and locations
such as this will be destroyed thanks to the scullduggery and greed of the moneygamblers of the world

Re: Can anyone help?

It'd be a shame if it closes. My partner buys her paper from the mill and the school where I work sends waste paper there for recycling.

I'll probably go there on Sunday to have a look round and offer a donation.

Re: Can anyone help?

Oh Ian, that would be a tragedy.

Have they investigated charities and perhaps even the Lottery for funding?

They won 0.5m in lottery funding last year - they are a registered charity. The money has been used to build a new visitor centre, but the economic downturn has hit their other fund raising activities.

Re: Can anyone help?

We went to the Paper Trail yesterday (Saturday). It was very interesting and well worth the entrance fee. The site had the first mechanical paper mill in The World. Afterwards we went to Woody's - a nearby vegetarian restaurant by the marina, which I can recommend.

Re: Can anyone help?

Ian, perhaps you could put together a photo exhibition and sale there? Pull in some favours and get a load of prints donated. Maybe some here may contribute, or have friends who would. The proceeds and publicity may help Paper Trail on the way...?

I am always in for good reason Unfortunately I dont have time (at the moment) to arrange this kind of things my self, so I could contribute by giving few pics for sale.

Re: Can anyone help?

Thanks for the ideas. I'm not sure if time is on our side to arrange an exhibition, but I can sound the Paper Trail out.

Re: Can anyone help?

I see the site has a way of giving donations, we could rally round that way, even a little bit might help.

Does Olympus ever give out grants or anything like that?
