Up-to date price for E-M5 + 12-50 (new)

Hi,

It seems price on E-M5 + 12-50 kit lens has recently dropped significantly in Sweden. I have seen prices as low as 5500 SEK/427£ from renowned retailers. A compelling offer, I am considering buying one as gift/replacement for a E620 with defect shutter.

Before commiting the purchase, may I ask what is the up-to-date the price point in UK? And if you believe Olympus have decided to phase out the Mark I?

Thanks
Tord

An E-M5 with 12-50 lens can be found on Amazon for £529.99 therefore, your price of £427 looks good.

I've only had a brief look so it's possible better deals are available than the one through Amazon.

I would take the introduction of the E-M5 Mk II as an indicator that the E-M5 Mk I is being phased out.

According to camerapricebuster website the cheapest new price in the UK is £499 from Wilkinsons.

On that basis £427 seems like a steal!

Used E-M5s are going for as little as £200 these days. Personally, I'd go for a faster lens like the 12-40 and a used body than a kit with the 12-50.

Hi there Iain / Tordan!

The price quoted from ffordes in this weeks AP is £699 - but this is for the E-M5 with the 12-50mm lens, a 40-150mm f4-5.6 lens, the 45mmf1.8 lens and the street case, so not such bad value after all if you wanted a complete kit.

The 12-50mm lens whilst not being as fast or as sharp as the 12-40mm pro is still a very acceptable lens for everyday use and has the additional Macro mode which can come in handy.

Cheers,

Ralph.

What about an EM5, plus 12-40 f2.8, for 800 smackers?
The vendor I have in mind is asking 315 for the camera, and 550 for the lens, as separate items. Clearly the bundle makes sense, if you have the readies.
