Rush hour.

Traffic streaming out of London up the A12 yesterday evening below the new moon. With a Central line train going the other way on the LHS.

Six second exposure leaning on the edge of a bridge.

E-M5, m4/3 25mm, f1.8.

Re: Rush hour.

The moon really helps put perspective into the shot.

Re: Rush hour.

Great shot I particularly like the moon, London skyline and starburst street lamps.
At first I thought this was taken from the M11 but with the help of google I am guessing that you took this from Langthorne Road because I did not think at first that the central line ran parallel to the A12?

Has the EM5 got the composite mode? I would have been tempted to use that mode so as to paint over the gaps in the break lights.

Re: Rush hour.

Very good, the exposure's spot on - all the elements are just right.

Yes you're right with the location, I was on my way to a pub round the back from here called the Birkbeck to meet some friends.

The E-M5 does not have composite. I still haven't updated my E-M1 and am still on 1.4 so not on that either.

Thanks all for your comments.

Re: Rush hour.

I like these shots too and this is great with the addition of the moon and starry street lights. Nicely done Andy. I also like the gaps as they show the ghostly position of the cars. The position of the gaps is key though and they work well on your shot. Sometimes they can definitely ruin a shot. I haven't updated my E-M1 either. I didn't realise it added the composite mode maybe I'll bit the bullet and do it to give it a go.

Re: Rush hour.

I quite like the gaps. It makes the fact that you can not even see a blur of the cars even more pronounced. Excellent exposure.

Re: Rush hour.

This shot works very well for me. The Moon is a bonus. I doubt live composite would improve it much but it may be interesting to compare.

I like the moon, it gives atmosphere to this traffic shot.
