Well it's a yawl rigged (the rear mast is almost at the back) gaff (the mainsail hangs from a big lump of wood - rather than tapering to a point) cutter (it will set two or more sails at the front) with its bowsprit stove (pulled) in.

Nice series of shots though John.

John.

Some posts. I had to edit this to lighten the shadows.

Yes.

We kept an eye open for funnel clouds and tornadoes.

I'm going to have to go back again and explore the marshes more.

Storm clouds over the marsh

Last of the dramatic tone (find it hard not to use this art filter, as it suites my tastes)

Interesting carving

Rigging

John, thanks to setting up the meet.

Hi Simon, it was a good day for the dramatic tone filter! I also like the B&W rigging shot and the angle you got on that chain, in fact they are all excellent.

I do like these Linda. No need for "Dramatic Tone Filter", nature provided her own.

Regards.

That little scene of the old mooring posts in the mud is just the type of shot I look for. I'm not so keen on the shot featuring my bald head, can't we use the clone tool for an instant hair transplant? I love that sequence of the approaching storm, I won't forget that in a hurry!

Methinks I need more practice with the clone stamp.

Re: Essex Coast - Tollesbury - Now With Pictures!

Sorry I missed this living as I do so close in real civilisation the other side of the marsh in some of the posted images!!

My night at the yacht club summer ball was as long as expected and to say the least I was in slow motion only all Sunday. There was a time I'd Ihave been up and racing the next morning; now it's all I can do to look approximately human. Still, the grumpiness continues unabated.

Perhaps we should have a short evening meet on the sea wall on the island. Some of the best sunsets you can ever expect to see due to large skies over large marshes. I know sunsets are a bit overdone and I for one rarely shoot them these days but might be worth and exception.

Hehe, comment was passed on how you was probably feeling and it was suggested that the strong wind might have helped to blow your hangover away.

Good idea about a Mersey meet. If it's during the week a wednesday evening would be ideal for me as I visit my Mum in Tiptree during the day.

Re. Mersea, evenings can be quite hit and miss with me and work at the moment. However, Wednesday the 1st and 8th of August I'm off work and currently not doing anything.

I can do either of those at the moment, how about you, Hec? If you can I'll start a seperate thread to get the ball rolling.

EDIT: Ist August would be best, I've just remembered that Linda's camera club meets the 2nd wednesday of the month, which will be the 8th.

I was thinking of starting another thread to avoid hi-jacking this one further. Let's pencil in the 1st August and I'll look up tides and sunset if you want to start a thread.

cheers
