Unhappy I Miss My Pen!

I recently sold my lovely E-P3 twin lens kit because I need the money for more mundane household related purposes, but I miss it already.

So I got to thinking about getting another E-PL1 (I swapped mine for a Sigma 105mm macro when I got the E-P3) and I've just ordered one, body only, from Ffordes for 150. I already have a Panasonic 14-45mm which will fit it nicely! That still leaves 530 surplus from the E-P3 for the boring stuff, plus I sold my car yesterday so it's a win/win situation.

The E-PL1 of course completely lacks the style, refined handling and speed of the E-P3 plus a number of useful features but it's certainly better than no Pen at all!

E-PL1 is still highly regarded by many people, John - like you say, it's better than no Pen at all, and still miles ahead of any smaller sensor jobby....

I know from experience that it will take superb images, in practice just as good as the E-P3 in fact but without such a good user experience or speed of operation. Arguably it has better IQ than the E-P1 and E-P2 and is without doubt a bit of a bargain.

I also have a very high regard for the Panasonic 14-45mm which I have for it.

If you'd have spoken nicely you could have had my E-P2 (once the OM-D turns up, that is!)

Well, if you're giving it away!

Re: I Miss My Pen!

Heh, I feel your satisfaction.
My e-pM1 has the autofocus lenses on it because it really does a swifter job with them, but my self-converted favourite manual lens stays on this e-pL1 for a couple of good reasons;
1. It doesn't have superfast AF, so nothing lost using MF.
2. It can't do art-filter bracket, so I leave it on my favourite ISO-bracket without temptation to change it.
3. The magnify button is better than reassigning a function button on the e-pM1.
4. Same lower-ISO image quality in Jpeg = very good.
In my opinion only an e-pL2 or e-P3 would be better.

Re: I Miss My Pen!

My E-PL1 went belly up not so long after I bought it. Serverd me right for buying "refurbished" from B&H NY, but I replaced it with the E-PL3 which I can't imagine being without. I would happily sell my other two E-s but I've never been good at selling ... (or buying either, for that matter - I invariably "get done" !)

Thanks Stephen, perhaps I should have posted on here before I made the purchase! Sounds like a bargain waiting for someone, though.
