Osprey with Perch

Have been back at my local lake - 10min. walk - and saw the Osprey on two more occasions. I think I may have got his daily pattern of checking all our available ponds and lakes (a row of former gravel pits) for prey about right. However, he let me wait 2h longer then usual today. But then showed up like this
He must have gotten his supper in the lake north of the one, where I waited so long. But I'll not complain! The good sized Perch (Perca fluviatilis) was apparently still alive and struggling, but the firm grip secured him in torpedo fashion under his belly. Kites and Buzzards were on his heels, trying to steal his meal
Not an every days sighting at my place! And I am well satisfied with the time invested so far; see the following sequence:

I certainly hope that he stays in our vicinity for a while, because what I really hope for, is getting him on "film", when he is actually diving for fish ...

Re: Osprey with Perch

Yes nice captures I've never seen anything like that before. You must be pretty patient to wait that long.

Thanks all, for the kind comments.

As far as nature and creatures are concerned, yes, I can be patient. If I know there is a chance of seeing something special, I can stand still for hours ...

Falk I went over to observe the Peregrine Falcons PeterD keeps an eye on, with my nice comfy pop up chair and tripod and lenses ... and it was just so darn peaceful sitting in the meadow for 3 or 4 hours - observing the PG Falcons; various Butterflies and Dragonflys ... I forgot to take pictures but photos can be lost NOT my memories of that afternoon 2012 I shall take some serious shots !

Meanwhile, its great when someone else posts here, I get an invite to view your shots again
