Re: coventry cathedral - sky

I was looking to the SOOF and I found some strange things.

Setup, EM1.2 with 14-150 + MMF3. Slot #1 is RAW + 40mp, Slot #2 is 20mp

In my downloaded files, I have 1 ORF, 1 ORI and 2 JPGs with different MPs.
In the ORF, the properties says HiRes, the ORI however says Silent + single frame.

This is developed from the ORF

This is from the ORI

The Slot #1 the original is (8160 x 6120)

The Slot #2 (5760 x 4320)

Re: coventry cathedral - sky

These are suppose to be the same image but if you notice the tree branches, seems the camera do remove the ghosting in the processing and it's not recorded into the ORF file.

The ORF file is bigger than the ORI file the jpg images exported out from Olympus Workspace say the same.

I am now confused.

Sorry, just realise I have 2 questions here. 1st on improvement and the 2nd on the photo size.

Re: coventry cathedral - sky

Henry I'm afraid your questions are way over my head so I'll leave them for others. As a comment though I definitely prefer the very first image you showed. Maybe a touch of blue in the sky would be nice, although it was the UK so your rendition is probably more realistic

Re: coventry cathedral - sky

If you use hi res mode in raw, the ORF file is the composited image (from 8 pixel shift shots), but the ORI file is a non composited image of the first of the 8 shots.

Re: coventry cathedral - sky

The processed picture is too "gritty" for my taste (but probably not for most), it looks like it belongs on the front of a dystopian future game. The rendering of the sky though is perfect. For the buildings and the courtyard I prefer the (developed) RAW.

Agree with you..it reminds me of the game I use to play Castle Wolfenstein
