Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I've been following the BBC's Live Update 11:30 onwards.

Comments posted from three UK MP's would appear to refute each others view. A comment from a German politician, which comes as no surprise, also pours cold water on getting anywhere?

I''ve suspected for a very, very long time that the phrase 'righr honourable' is spoken in much the same way The Duke of Wellington, alledgedly ended a letter with: I remain, Sir, your humble and obedient servant (which you known damn well I am not), Wellesley.

There will be no Nativity Scene in Parliament this year! The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Nativity Scene in Parliament this Christmas season. This isn’t for any religious reason. They simply have not been able to find Three Wise Men. A search for a Virgin continues. There was no problem, however, finding enough asses to fill the stable.

I'm not surprised. They have all apparently signed up for a re-boot film which still has the odd one or twi scenes to be shot. Something about a nifhtmare on something or other street? It's been rumoured to be released some time in March 2019? It's also rumoured to be well over the £39 Billion budget estimate due mainly to travelling expenses, and other unforseen sundry expences. A recent update has highlighted additional problems which could quite possibye result in a new director being appointed. Many of those funding the project have reached a point where should further issues evolve, the project could be cancelled through a lack of public interest.

Should further setbacks result in the last few scenes not being shot, it has been suggested that all cast members should be shot instead. It is felt that this would help offfset the dismay of those who funded the project and provide some semblance of providing value for money.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

Boris summed up:

Ken Clarke, a Remainer of many years’ vintage, said the idea that he would follow Boris Johnson in the case of Mrs May’s departure was “faintly ridiculous”.

“Boris is great fun, but couldn’t run a whelk stall,” he told BBC Radio 4’s PM programme.

You can say that, I couldn't possibly comment.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

I think Mrs May was mistaken to have let it be known, she is not going to run for another term as PM, by doing so she has disempowered herself with the EU. Surely after 29 March, isn’t that when she needs to be around for the long term, negotiating new trade deals and keeping the country strong and stable. I wonder what she said or did to anger the EU leaders? She probably said to old Junker “I got you by the balls now, it’s my way or the highway ”......

No, she should go as soon as practical after 29th march. She negotiated the deal, now she wants to change it.
My heart says 'get rid of the Tories, they were know as the nasty party, just look at them now, knives out for their leader?
In some way I cannot blame them as it is May who has refused to treat this with the importance it deserves. Other parties have repeatedly offered to work with her, but no, she had to do it her way, she want sacking, but not yet.
General election in 2019, bring it on!

Fine to say ‘bring it on’ but there is no credible alternative, zero, not a single party with people capable of leading the country forward. If there had been then they would have helped the country through this mess in the first place rather than fighting for their own cause(s)
Given the state of the Tories, Labour should be utterly resurgent and storming ahead, instead they are a sorry lot, led by the Marxist tramp (the word ‘led’ implies something which JC most certainly isn’t capable of)

And this Tory government are credible? Knives out at this crucial juncture?
You are wrong on one point, the others being your opinion. The Labour party have offered to work with the tories, but were refused. As I wrote, May should go soon after we leave.

Re: Political: We're doomed, Captain Mannering...

At this late hour, JC is still of a mind that he can afford to wait. Why get your hands dirty when others are doing it for you. The big problem, is that he thinks he can re-negotiate a deal.

Why should the EU bother when we appear to be desparate and they hold all the winning cards?
