E-m1 with 12-40 strange thing

Good evening all,

I hope a fellow E-m1 user can sort out this strange happening.

My E-m1 seem stuck on manual focus with the 12-40. All my other lens all ok. Another twist is the 12-40 is fine itself on my E-pl5.
Back on the E-m1 when you look at what I would call live view menu the MF is greyed out.

Puzzler to me, youthink lens but it's ok on E-pl5, so you think E-m1, but that's ok with other lens.

I hope one of you fine members can help me clear this up

Yours hopefully

Ian

pull or push the manual /auto focus ring back on the front of the lens?

Just a little tip:

With the Lens hood on backwards, it protects the focus ring from being inadvertently pulled into Manual position.

Re: E-m1 with 12-40 strange thing

Thanks Jamsa,

Sorted.

What really puzzled me was it was fine on my E-pl5. So obviously the switching to manual on the lens only works on the E-m1. One of our group members had a play with my camera Wednesday night.

So thanks again and have a great weekend

Ian

Ian you are not the first, or the last I bet, to be caught out by this there are lots of threads on here about it. Glad it got sorted out so cheaply Must catch up with you and the club in the future it looks to be doing really well from the FB site. You ought to put a link to it in your signature here.

I was caught out by this the other day too. My Mrs could tell there was something wrong by my face (I thought I had broke my camera) then I had a *Doh* moment and I was sorted

Re: E-m1 with 12-40 strange thing

Yeah, that outfoxes everyone! My GF uses my 12-40 as a fixed prime at whatever mm its set to :-) if the barrel focus ring is stuck on manual also, then we really do get in trouble!
