Last rose in the garden.

I have been having all sorts of trouble getting my photos from the gallery to a post - following the video to the letter!
Now I think I have it!
This is "Golden Celebration" - a great performer in the garden, but now it is wet and cold, and this is literally the last rose for the season.

And a slightly different angle (just to prove I can do it twice! )

Nice rose Lyn, the colour's rendered nicely, but there are APHIDS visible on that 1st shot

John - You are TOO GOOD!
In the 2nd shot the aphid was clearly visible so I cloned it out!
Noticing it in the 1st photo - just couldn't be bothered!
My excuse is that as it is the very last rose of the season and everything attacks the roses at this time of the year - you have to cut me some slack!

Thanks Ed - nothing life -threatening, a severe case of Bursitis (I had to look it up!! ) Very painful - and a miserable head cold to boot!
I am not to use my arm (bursitis in the shoulder) - and THAT probably won't happen!

Re: Last rose in the garden.

Nice shots and nice rose. We have a "Bridge Of Sighs" rose bush right outside the kitchen window which is doing well and a joy to look at.

Lovely shots, Lyn. I particularly like the angle on the 2nd.

Thanks for looking OM. I have only seen pictures of "Bridge of Sighs", but it looks gorgeous. A Harkness climber I think, and a pretty apricot shade.

I like it too John, it seems to "float out" from the bokeh. It is the first day of winter today, and after the hottest autumn on record we have had glorious opening rain. We are hoping for an old-fashioned wet winter.

Re: Last rose in the garden.

Funny you should put these up - great pics. My wife was just saying on the first day of winter that I should take a pic of the last of Apricot Nectar. Will do tomorrow.

What a great performer "Apricot Nectar" is Terry! Mine has finished now so will look forward to seeing your photo. I am always sad when the roses finish and I am not allowed by the Assistant Gardener to put any more in!

Here it is.

As you can see its right outside the kitchen window.

Detail of one flower that is only just opening.

All Jpegs straight out of the camera except for resizing. This dreamy quality was with the OM Zuiko 50mm F1.2 and maybe I went overboard with the razor thin DOF trying to eliminate the roughcast & window frame background (about 6 inches behind). 1/4000sec.

50mm again but this time the kit zoom at F6.3, 1/250sec.

Re: Last rose in the garden.

Lyn, today is a very sad day ... the last rose of your summer

The nicest thing about today is YOU CAPTURED IT beautifully (Aphids and all)

Its so strange, to read your last rose, when my Blue Moon has very tiny, tight green buds now - albeit, promise for the future

ps I have just planned to visit a majestic gardens with an "Avenue of Laburnum" near us - a stones throw away ...

www.deanhousegardens.co.uk at the weekend (and use the big 300 lens for Red Kites too

Re: Last rose in the garden.

Great OM. Thank you for posting - look at those buds in No1 - it looks like a nice vigorous rose. I hope you get a beautiful perfume through your window..
The colour reminds me very much of David Austin's "Jayne Austin", another lovely apricot rose. I must find out if it is available here. Perhaps I can fit just one more rose in.
I like that final shot BTW.

Will look forward to your garden visit photos Chevvy. My garden is "shutting down" for winter, but the daffs and jonquils are poking through so the tulips won't be far behind and they will keep me happy until rose season again!

Thank you for the link, I will enjoy it.

I remember getting a "Blue Moon", a very nice and unusual rose. Hopefully its still going strong but we moved on and didn't take it with us.
