Thanks Dave and Alf. I used the 300mm Pro with the TC 1.4, on a tripod.

Stacked in Registax, and slight tweaking in LR. I like my moons (!) with low saturation...……...

Can only agree with all of the above.

In fact the detail is so good, after careful scrutiny, I do believe I've found the moon boots and the pile of cameras they left on the surface... Just can't quite make out the names?

Clear sky and darkish moon phase... I'm off out for my first attempt at stars... If I don't appear with something in this thread in the next few days, just assume I failed miserably

I enjoyed my night out in the Peaks in the dark! It was an interesting if not very successful night though. There was a misty haze to the north so my planned star trails around the north star was a bust. I did manage some shots though, no idea what they are like other than on the back of the camera yet.

I also learnt that just because you know of a cool dead tree that you've been to once, a year ago, doesn't mean walking a mile or so in the dark will be easy!

Perhaps it was still twilight in the North. I thought of trying some photos myself, after reading your first post, but decided it simply wasn't dark enough. It's the wrong time of year for astro-photography
