Thumbs up POTD Monday 8th December 2008

Glen Bentley kindly nominated this spectacular show of a giant wave threatening to dwarf a lighthouse, taken by photonutter:

Glen says: "Apart from the obvious stand out quality of this shot and having trawled through many of the photos in the gallery, I notice there are few that capture the drama of the sea.

Appreciate the difficulties but surely those E3 users will brave the weather for more?
"

Thanks for that Glen and congratulations photonutter!

So who will be next? We need nominations from you - just email (forum-admin@e-group.uk.net) me or send a forum Private Message to me (send to Ian) with a link to the gallery page where your chosen image is shown and include a sentence or two about why you like the picture so much.

This is a great photo and I am curious to know whether slight hdr was used to accentuate the surf detail?

It's difficult to tell as the picture was uploaded quite small on the gallery.

Good choice, it's an excellent picture that shows what lighthouses have to put up with, and hints at why they're there.

Thanks for the comments guys, you can check out a larger file here,

along with a few more in the set.
As for hdr, used level curves in olmpus master to bring out a little detail.

What a great shot, truely representative of the tremendous talent we have on this forum!
