SRS Watford

Just for interest - shop, stock and studio area expands 4+ times.

Anne and I popped into the new premises of SRS in Watford today and were surprised at the stocks now on display including a dedicated area for Olympus, most pleasing. Builders were currently below stairs producing a studio which some may find of interest in the future.

Excuse the hurried pix.

Happy New Year from us two.
We have been off air so as to speak but our internet connection is now up and running after our recent move.

Regards. Barr1e

Re: SRS Watford

Hi bought my Oly there. So they now have twice as much equipment that I can't afford to buy!

Re: SRS Watford

I bought my E-30 and 30mm Sigma from there at the start of this month. They seemed a bit bereft of stock at the time, but that could have changed. Very impressed with the staff there and I shall be going back, hopefully next month for a couple more Sigma lenses and a flash gun. It may be a bit of a drive from North Hampshire, but definitely worth it for good service

Re: SRS Watford

Gosh! Not seen a camera shop with stock for many a year! Certainly not round here! They all seem to have windows plastered with processing adverts and a small huddle of sub-99 compacts (all pink in colour).

Re: SRS Watford

I didn't know that SRS have new premises - is it a new location or an expansion of the existing site?

The shop I remember was quite small and they used to have one half selling computer goods and the other half photographic. Even when they stopped selling computers it all looked rather cramped

They are quite a staunch Olympus (and Panasonic Leica) DSLR supplier.

Re: SRS Watford

IS it just me but when I have a look on the SRS website and then click on the Olympus E-30 link http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/off...html?catid=288 and then click on any of the "more info" buttons it leads me the the UK Government HMRC Customs website!!http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsP...cument&resetCT... <a href='/2364/Olympus-E30-Digital-SLR-Camera-with-Olympus-11-22mm-Lens.html' class=
All I wanted was to check the details of a camera but now even the Government wants to help me make a purchase - how kind :-)

Re: SRS Watford

I've bought a few bits from SRS in the past and they always seamed have a good selection of Oly equipment on display (including the more exotic lenses) and really helpful.

From the photo, it looks like they have expanded into the next unit rather than moved.

It's just you - the links work fine for me. If I were you I'd start to get worried....

Sorry I checked again and realise that I wasn't clear enough - I mean the "more info" text that immediately follows the brief info about each camera (i.e. not the big red "More Info" button on the right)!
And BTW I'm working really hard . . . . but not on the right things!

Hi -

You are almost right, Simon. In fact they have actually completely moved into the next door premises which is a double unit, rather than kept their own and expanded into the next unit. Their original premises were on the right hand side (out of sight) as you look at Barrie's pic.

Hi Chris -

I sent an email to SRS re the link (C&E) and they responded:

Hi Barrie,

Thanks for this link. It was designed to show the perils of ordering
from abroad, but it does look a bit too official!

Chris

I hope that clears up your question.

Well that's a funny idea and in no way did I think about the perils of ordering from abroad as a result . . . . . all I thought about was Customs going to demand an extra slice of the tax cake to pay for someone's Christmas bonus! That was closely followed by the thought of how clever Customs were being in making sure that the extra 2.5% VAT was going to be paid.

I too emailed SRS straight after getting confirmation of the strange link, but I didn't get any reply, so glad to see that the message eventually got through.

Thanks for the update.

Chris
