Re: Olympus 75-300 f4.8 - 6.7 Hardly used !

It seems a pity no one has taken it up. While the pro 40-150 might be the flavour of the month the 75-300 lens is very capable & conveniently small.

Re: Olympus 75-300 f4.8 - 6.7 Hardly used !

As you say, it is rather overlooked and for what it costs and does it is an amazing bargain, but I've been offered a very decent price by a dealer as part of a trade in. Just a shame that no one here will benefit.

I think Ross was close to the truth with his statement "While the pro 40-150 might be the flavour of the month...". The 40-150mm/F2.8 has not been out long so most people who have been into MFT for the last few years will already have the 75-300mm as it was the only viable Oly lens for those who wanted a long reach. Anyway, good luck with your trade in.

Re: Olympus 75-300 f4.8 - 6.7 Hardly used !

Yes good luck with your trade in Steve. I'd been considering buying it from you myself as the one I had got stolen about a year ago. The only reason I didn't cave in and make you an offer is that to be honest over the last year I've only wanted to use it once. So head ruled heart and I decided I didn't need one. Will probably live to regret that decision

Re: Olympus 75-300 f4.8 - 6.7 Hardly used !

Well Phill, I certainly hope you do live to regret the decision as I don't want anyone not to live over a lens of anyone's..!

It will certainly feel odd not having any Olympus gear when it has gone as I came back to Olympus SO full of hope as the system offers so much for so many people, and I am sure that soon it will do all I wanted so I may well return, and I have to say that while I was never a prolific poster on this forum I certainly spent many hours reading what was posted..
I may just hang onto this lens for a while just to give me a reason to post a new thread ("Still got this damn lens that no-one wants for sale") as I do like this place..

Anyway, for now this is still available, and while it may mean taking a hit on what I know I can get from a dealer feel free to make me an offer - I've never been one to go for the highest offer over one that comes from someone who will actually use the lens, especially if the potential buyer spins a wonderful tale as to why I should sell them the lens at a loss.......

Re: Olympus 75-300 f4.8 - 6.7 Hardly used !

I'm in the same boat as Phill D. I wanted one after doing an RIAT this year but haven't seen a need since. I'm not into spending silly money on the 40-150 2.8 and the TC for more reach when generally my photography is towards closer range.

Stick around, maybe in a few months someone will have another hankering.

I may even break out an X-factor worthy sob story on how I've never had enough reach to fulfil my photography potential and this lens, with its imperfections (Lumix caps...) would give me the opportunity I have waited for whilst keeping me humble and grounded! **Cue the dramatic music and montage**

In your own time, as the charming Mr Cowell would say

**cue 'our tunes-esc' backing music while you enter stage right, looking a million dollars in your spangly one-piece...

Just remember that a Lumix lens cap does not imply imperfections, but should be seen as an adornment, rather like a big brooch that Dame Edna might wear with aplomb..
