Historic Bedford. Old and ugly.

Bedford? Pah!. Ugly and out of date if you ask me.

Well, I can't let StephenL's excellent Ford thread have all the limelight.

Well, it is a sort of "ford"!

Never seen a charabanc like this in Britain so this must have been taken in the foreign. Looks like a runner to me. Just needs a dab of Jenolite here and there.

Re: Historic Bedford. Old and ugly.

Well at least you could tell it was a Bedford or a Ford in those days, unlike the look alike clones we have today.

Yep, it's a home made lorry conversion. You find them rotting away all over Cyprus..

Re: Historic Bedford. Old and ugly.

Do Bedford still exist as a company these days? I had an ex BT Bedford van years ago, the small one with a Vauxhall Viva front end.

Not really the name disappeared in 1986 except for military vehicles and that went in 1987. Bedford were owned by GM/ Vauxhall but was sold to Isuzu.

Stangley enough GM brought it back and it now operates as GMM Luton, far removed from the Bedford name.

Dont you miss names like the Bedford Rascal and Bedford Beagle and those front ends were disinctive.

Re: Historic Bedford. Old and ugly.

I remember working from a Bedford CF van when I first left school. Now that was distinctive
