Re: New Firmware coming?

Hope this is true for the EM-5 Mk II:

The position of the AF target and the range of spot measurement can be linked.

Re: New Firmware coming?

Interesting.

Good news about saving settings on the M5ii, if that's correct.

Anyone noticed any problems with the 1ii, 300 and noise if the stabiliser is on? I certainly haven't: I've been trying shooting BIF with stabiliser on and off and haven't really noticed any difference in image quality/noise, although I do seem to find it easier to keep most birds in the centre-ish of the frame with IS-Auto on and my in-focus rate seems better that way.

Re: New Firmware coming?

Both the 12-100mm & 300mm Pro lenses get updates besides E-M1 Mk II, E-M5 Mk II & PEN-F.

Re: New Firmware coming?

That is further good news, and makes more sense - nothing there about noise performance, but other areas are mentioned or implied.

Re: New Firmware coming?

I think the "noise performance" is mechanical rather than digital:

Quote:
New feature for E-M1 Mark II: Combination with M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4.0 IS PRO firmware Ver. 1.1 and M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4.0 IS PRO firmware Ver. 1.2 improves silent sequential shooting performance when image stabilisation is active.
It's never struck me as being a problem, but that doesn't mean it isn't.

Re: New Firmware coming?

"Performance" could mean anything, really.
As to mechanical noise, there's currently just the faintest 'breathing' sound when silent shooting with the 300 and 12-100 with IS active or not.

Odd, anyway the other stuff is nice to have.

Re: New Firmware coming?

I wonder if the noise is something to do with repeatedly stopping down the aperture? I habitually shoot wide open or close to it so I wouldn't have noticed it if it is.

Re: New Firmware coming?

The new firmware is already here. I downloaded it for both the E-M1 Mk II and the 12-100mm lens about an hour or so ago.

Everything is still working, but I'll have of a play with it tomorrow.
