Antipodean Trip

As I have said elsewhere I am travelling. Currently in HK then on to NZ, Australia and Singapore. I'm going to try and do a photoblog (I may not have the discipline).

Re: Antipodean Trip

Hi Jim, what a great idea to do a blog, I look forward to following your progress. Also consider producing a photobook through Blurb or something similar, it would be a great memento of a rather special trip.

Re: Antipodean Trip

I have been unable to post images for a couple of weeks after trying to upload an image that was too big but it seems to have been sorted. Just a random few to catch up. There are quite a few on my blog ( see my signature for link)
Stoneleigh Vineyards North Island and the storm I was about to drive through in the mountains.

Conventional view of Bondi Beach

Turned round to find some disturbing works by someone called Lister

In Wellington NZ Art Shops have art work

A couple from the Hunter Valley and Blue Mountains.
Sunrise in the Hunter Valley

A couple from around Katoomba which Ross (Ross the Fiddler) mentioned in a thread recently.
The Three Sisters

A view with impending rain from the same viewing platform

From another viewing area (getting confused about what was where now)

Perhaps I should have started new thread. Perhaps this can be moved to Foto Fair?

Re: Antipodean Trip

You have caught some lovely light there beautifully, Jim. I really like the recession in the mountains in the B&W vineyard shot.

Re: Antipodean Trip

That is often the way Mark. I walked past the Tower of London every day on my way to work for a few years but I have never been inside. We often ignore what's on our doorstep for that perceived to be more exotic.

Good to see shots of your trip in a place I will never visit. Hasten to add due to health not lack of desire.

Lovely shots Jim. My absolute fave is the first one of the Hunter Valley. I'd be very happy to hang that on my wall!

Re: Antipodean Trip

I love these Jim. I hadn't seen these before (& hadn't looked at your blog for a little while either), but the Hunter Valley & Blue Mountains shots are great. I can't recognise the last photo to identify the lookout as there are quite a few lookout points along the Jamison Valley alone (let alone the Grose Valley to the north), but the views of the Three Sisters & Mount Solitary (across the Jamison Valley) from Echo Point are nice mid afternoon shots. I notice the last photo was about 5.00pm & could be a view into the Grose Valley, if you went that side or Mt Piddington LO at Mt Victoria?

Although I live in the Blue Mountains & we have visited several places over the years with children at various ages, there is still a lot I haven't been to (or haven't been to for some time). One time was scary when our son took off with the school party & overseas visiters & was ahead of them & didn't notice the others had turned around to come back. That was not a comfortable feeling when he didn't return with them, I can tell you. Thankfully other tourists were further out on that track & realised he was alone & getting lost & eventually brought him back. That seemed like a very long time to us!

I am hoping to get out to more sites around here again now that I have better gear to capture the scenes better than I could before (& just get more photos to add to the growing files on hard drives ).

Antipodean Trip

Hi Ross. We were taken around by a friend who lives in Sydney and he wanted to fit in everything. So it was a whirlwind tour, except when we got to the Hunter Valley, he really loves his wine.
So I can't remember everywhere we went. Note to self keep notes😀
