Re: "Can I get?"

If one asks to use your 'bathroom'. Don't worry. They don't want a bath. It means they want to go to the toilet. They never say toilet though. You shouldn't say toilet to an American. As it might offend them or something.

Re: "Can I get?"

If one says "have you guys done dinner yet? " they don't just mean guys. But gals too. They call gals, guys for some reason.

Oh, but the 'T' word is so common. It should be lavatory.

Re: "Can I get?"

On a different subject, I have just received the email below:

Quote:
WANTED: Boyfriend!
*Warning* - These Russian women will message you!
These women are extremely loyal and family orientated,
who over the past 50 years have developed a fascination for 'Westernized Men'.
Being brought up in a different culture,
our members are shocked and refreshed at how aggressive these women can be in pursuit of a man.
Due to So Many Interested Women - *Limited Time* Men Join for Free
If they really had spent fifty years "developing a fascination for 'Westernized Men" I really don't think I would be interested.

Surely, any mention of a bath would offend a "shower person"?

I think loo, dyke or bog will also do. The thunder box isn't so common now since the dunny man was put out of a job.

I don't mind this as much, as I always get to answer "yes, but my wife has custody of it" and then look at the momentary puzzlement on their faces

Cheers,

Ralph.

I do think politicians tend to run away at the sight of journalists - especially Paxman! Maybe the journalists have an assistant to grab them as they run past so the journalist can catch up.

Cheers,

Ralph.

I dunno (I know how I would anyhow), but they don't wash their hands by turning on the tap as they turn on or open the faucet.

And another, when in Australia they (Americans) ask for diapers for the baby when we call them nappies. They soon discover what they what they need.

Another term comes to mind that is quickly corrected if used here & that is "bank check" (instead of bank cheque). We had a school bursar very quickly corrected when it was used in some printed communication within the school.

So what level of society use 'bog'?

As in 'I must go to the bog.'

Maybe the same as (or below) those that say, "I gotta go see a man about a dog!"
