I have not seen some members photos.

I have not seen many shots posted by some members.

Why is this?

I do not search for threads from the home page but look in the sections of the forum that interest me. I am not that bothered about camera conference I as cannot afford a new camera at the moment so I do not look there.

Yet some people seem to post all there photos there so I seem to lose out. Maybe I should change my habits but I don't see that happening.

So some people work will remain unknown to me.

we are all happy to see your work and help you on the way to improving it in any way we can. The point of the forum is to help each other as much as show of your pics.

We all take photos we are not happy with (well I do anyway) and need some help with sorting the issue out.

Re: I have not seen some members photos.

Why not use the "New Posts-Get all new posts" menu item each time you logon - that way you a list of all the new/updated threads, from which you can then select the ones which interest you.
I don't think you can depend on folk posting images in the sub-forums which you watch.

Yes, this forum is home to some amazingly good photographers, who also have the distinction of being quite supportive and civil. Jump in with both feet!

Why would I expect to find members only posting thier shots in a section described as:

Re: I have not seen some members photos.

Alf I have also noticed more people (mainly new members) posting images in the camera forums rather than the correct place for them.

I put this down to foto fair being sidelined to the side strip, I have thought for some time this is also the reason for less images being posted (something this forum was always strong on) and also probably reason I post and participate less myself these days.

Re: I have not seen some members photos.

Good point, Alf. I suspect that members started posting in camera-specific sections to illustrate a particular technical aspect, and it "just grewed".

Re: I have not seen some members photos.

Most of my image posts are to illustrate a point so are more likely to appear in equipment threads.

I've found foto fair insufficient generally. It rolls by too quickly in the summer and is often a bit cliquey, it should be more of a showcase of what we as photographers can get out of our equipment.

I think it should be split in to subforums by genre (as many as possible), this way lurkers and new members can view the threads for longer and feel encouraged to post, particularly if they have an interest in certain genres.

Also, without sounding like sour grapes, it does get slightly overdone with everything about, "Look at my E-M1 photos & how great & wonderful they are!". All the latest models are great with their output & the latest one (pun intended) is great too with all its wonderful features. Foto Fare is a great (sorry, I'll have to think up a few more appropriate adjectives) spot to show a lot of images without being subject to critique & for more general showing & also, the older models produce fantastic photos too. We want to see all photos, not just from "the latest & greatest" (as great as they are).

It is helpful to see what can be got out of our equipment, but it is also good to see what possible photographic artistic skills we each have (& we can possibly attempt) regardless of which camera we are using too.

Re: I have not seen some members photos.

Some members post their images in Photo Fair and then ask for comments and critique. What's that all about??? Surely if you want critique, place your images in Looking for Improvement. Not much stuff is posted in there these days.
