Hobby Hunting Dragonflies

This Hobby was hunting Dragonflies from a distant dead tree in the reedbeds at Strumpshaw Fen yesterday. It was about 6.30 in the evening and light was not that good which did not help with the quality of the images. However, given the conditions and the fact that these birds can outfly and catch Swifts, I was quite pleased with the way the E-M1 II performed with the latest firmware. I apologise for the number of images but I wanted to show the sequence of frames which were more or less in focus.

E-M1 II, 300mm f4 and MC-14.

Very nice Ron, a bird we don't see often enough.

If the 'Custodians of the Countryside' had their way we wouldn't see them at all!

Re: Hobby Hunting Dragonflies

Many thanks for the comments and 'likes'. They are really exhilarating birds to watch. At one point it flew straight towards me but I was so surprised that I wasn't quick enough to focus on it. I don't know how close it came but through the viewfinder it looked as if it was about to take my eye out!
