That's a massive decrease in 2 years. Not quite sure what their categories are. (DSC???)

Re: Global Shipment of Digital Cameras Down

The reason is simple to understand. Everyone's p!$$€* off with digital and they're turning their attention to film cameras. No wonder the second prices are on the up. Grrr!

More seriously, the digital camera has become an established mature product, so manufacturers are chasing a diminishing demand by adding minor improvements to attract those poor individuals who are incapable of saying no - the pure gear-addicts. Additionally, the camera technology in mobile phones has improved so much, of late, that many find the 'camera in the pocket' to be more than acceptable, and one you rarely leave the house without.

Re: Global Shipment of Digital Cameras Down

Vast majority are happy taking photos with a phone to bung straight away on Instagram.
As said above some are happy with the camera they have and no interest in the latest and greatest.
My old E-M1 is still perfectly useable and not rushing out to replace it, do have a newer rangefinder style body too.

Also have a digital rangefinder style cameras myself and two 16MP u4/3 cams., the EM5 Mk 1 and the GM5. That's enough for me.

I fully concur with this. its the same with all technology. My PC is and still flies because I built it with the best I could afford at the time, my phone and tablet do what I need and my camera is now better than I am capable to use to the limit.

Companies need to find a game changer - in my case it has been the move from 4/3 to u4/3 .. otherwise I would still be using my 4/3 kit. however once burned twice shy, I am buying a lot less now

Regards
Andy

Not quite... Itís the compacts, the Rebels, the E-M10 mk X, the Nikon DXXXX that seem to be dying the death. For those of us who want to do real photography, with real cameras (notwithstanding the old school film purists) who will see things start to get more expensive. Hence cameras like the EOS RP as bigger sensors become more a thing. It means more people will make do. Pros will continue to be pros.

Incidentally, many make do already. Thee are plenty of users of 10+ year old DSLRs out there who make do already, and make great photos.

Lovely stuff, and no doubt even lovelier with a third off, but a bit of a challenge to get processed these day I believe.

Peak Imaging will process it as B&W. Sadly I don't think anyone offers colour processing anymore.
