It's all her fault!

I haven't been able to spend much time taking photos, posting on or even browsing this forum recently due to my attentions being demanded elsewhere.

The reason:

The new girl in my life has actually taken over my life demanding all the time I can give and more.

Her name is Martha and she is a five month old Dalmation puppy from a rescue home. We didn't plan to have another dog for a while after losing our 17 year old Springer but life doesn't always pan out that way. No manners, eats everything (especially if it is un-savoury) and steals everything she can't eat. Anyhow, in my 70th year I needed a new challenge, if only I had a carriage to go with her! I reckon I'll get back to taking photographs again in about a year!

A couple of rare shots of her not dashing around:

E-M1 and Tamron 14-150mm

Wish me luck!

David

She looks big for a puppy! Lovely dog! And well done for adopting one instead of going to a puppy farm!

Lovely pup! She'll keep you active. Just get some saddlebags and train her to carry the camera kit, and you're sorted!

Re: It's all her fault!

She looks beautiful! Unfortunately we had to say goodbye (lymphoma) to our 11 year old Cocker Spoodle yesterday, but we still have our Border Collie (rescued) & Foxy Pug.

Oh David - I do wish you luck! . A challenge indeed by the sounds of it, but she will enrich your life no end I am sure!
And Ross, I am so sorry to hear about your lovely Cocker Spoodle. Thankfully you have your lovely photos and memories.
Since our much loved 18 year old Siamese died several years ago we have rationalised not getting another "we travel too much now", but there is a huge void in our lives that only a pet can fill, and we will have to address that ...soon.

Lyn, maybe you could partly fill that void, but still have a certain amount of freedom to travel, by short-term fostering for an animal rescue centre?

Re: It's all her fault!

did you get the fire engine as well - you know that dalmatians were companion dogs to the horses that pulled the fire engines.

This is a lovely idea John, and one I have toyed with in the past.
The big drawback is that I fall in love with any animal I foster and could never give them back. So I remain a "visitor" to our local welfare centre, and even that tugs at the heartstrings and takes a bit of getting over.

Re: It's all her fault!

Carrigies may be a bit much, but our Dalmation loves a bike ride. If you are fortunate to have one of the old railway beds converted to a bike path, a jaunt along one of those is just the thing. No cars about and you can adjust your speed so that the dog settles into a steady lope, Bob our liver spotted sock muncher loves it.
