Le Tour de Yorkshire

Been to watch today. Quite difficult to get many keepers with all the spectators, changeable light & the fact that they go past in a flash. Enjoyed the day though.

Technically these were taken in Derbyshire, with e-m1 & four thirds 70-300. Won't be giving up the day job.

Yellow Jersey:

Anyone else been/going? If so lets see 'em.

Cheers Mick.

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

I'm going tomorrow for the Essex stage, but I'm not expecting shots as good as these.

Yip they're coming down through the forest tomorrow but other things have got in the way so I can't make it.

Thanks for showing these.

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

Mick, you have some images to treasure with a special memory. I am very jealous; I only wished I lived closer as the Tour is a 'must watch' event in our household each July.

I'd swap Essex for Findhorn any day!

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

Great shots giving a good idea of the speed they pass and the confusion thats all around...especially like the last one for the wider view.

As much as I like the fact our riders are beating all the Johnny Foreigners without the aid of anything suspect (hope)....I just cannot get my head around bike racing...3 get out in front and 5000 say O.K. but we will wait until its too late and chase each other but forget to catch up with the 3 in front.
This morning I saw them going up a hill towards a place where they could get "a point" ...and only 2 out of the pack bothered to go for it...weird.

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

I watched this live on TV last night, what a wonderful setting. Seeing the peloton powering their way to the crest of a hill was awesome. I saw by the flags they had a following wind, I was a little surprised at how spectators were permitted to almost block the road by leaping out in front of the leaders to take pictures. From your high vantage point I see that you weren't among them - well done!

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

Thanks for posting. I was hoping to see some tour pics so well done.

Sadly I have to work or else I'd be trundling along to see them flash through gods own county, Essex that is of course.

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

Hi Mick -

You asked members to add pix of the tour.

Our son-in-law, a keen cyclist travelled up to be one of the many folk cheering on the riders and was rewarded with this pic on his iphone.

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

Further to Barrie's post above, as he said, our son-in-law travelled up with a couple of friends to take in the atmosphere of the tour. They stayed over Saturday night at a campsite near Holmfirth -

1.

Some of the action - a great day apparently and an appreciative crowd of spectators -

2.

Could almost be in France! - the Gendarmerie -

3.

As Barrie mentioned, all pix taken on an iphone. Thank you for your invitation to post pix on your thread, Mick.

Regards,
Ann1e

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

No problem, thanks for posting-great stuff.
We were a bit further along the route trying to avoid the crowds. Might have missed some of the atmosphere though.

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

Mick.

Re: Le Tour de Yorkshire

thanks for posting these...No 4 is very Graham Watson...superb shot! Barr1e...what an amazing shot, not only the yellow jersey....but on an iPhone, thats amazing.
We went to Harrogate for the finish...no shots though just far too crowded.....I'm not complaining as I would never complain about the growing popularity of the sport in the UK.
