Who will be at The Royal Wedding with their camera?

So, who will be in the crowd on the procession route for he Royal Wedding of Prince William & Kate with their camera? The TV coverage is building up here in Australia & obviously there is a lot interest, not just in the UK, but around the world too. Who will be there?

Nope, won't be there. I suspect someone in our houshold will be watching the TV coverage

I was thinking of getting the old petrol lawnmower going while its on. Reminds me, I must try to fix the silencer..

But seriously, in an unexpected attack of neighbourlyness, we are having a street party afterwards: With a Silver Band, and Bunting, and cakes, and a barrel of beer... How about that?

I'll be giving it a miss too. Will be driving a van containing all my worldly goods (except my camera equipment which was taken up last week) as I move from Liverpool back home to the north-east. Hopefully I'll have the roads almost to myself!!

Oh well, my father left Liverpool for an even better place, Australia.

Not a chance, there are far more worthy subjects waiting to be photographed. With the masses glued to their TV sets there will be better opportunities for landscape photography devoid of bodies

Re: Who will be at he Royal Wedding with their camera?

I like Royal occasions like this. I know it's easy to ridicule the royal family, but on the whole I think it does a good job and all the countries that have got rid of theirs seem very interested in ours.

But I will be on the road at 4AM on Thursday to get to Stansted for an early flight to Venice with the family. Our children don't go back to school until Wednesday next week so I'm taking full advantage of some welcome off-peak holiday prices for a 4-night break in Venice!

I hope to bring back some nice pix, but the weather forecast isn't looking great to be honest

Ian

Oooh, lovely choice for a short break holiday, Ian... I am sure you'll all have a smashing time. Heather was asking of Lara and Lizzy recently too.

Remember... no pics, and there was no holiday

Thanks Ian. I was beginning to think everybody there were cretons. I agree with you on the Royal family, but it's even better for us, we have the Queen & we don't have to pay anything towards Her expenses (except in the reduced, meagre pension my Mum gets for Dad's service to Queen & country).

It was nice to see Prince William come here to visit our flood & natural disaster ravaged areas in Australia & New Zealand. I believe it did help with those affected with the Royal concern.

I forgot to add, have a nice trip with your family Ian.

5500 street parties in the UK, 20 in Scotland and more than half of those in Edinburgh.
I will not be watching or listening to it. If its a nice day I'll be out taking photos, if not I'll wash my hair.
When his mother got married I and my friends spent a superb day climbing Curved Ridge on the Buachaille in Glencoe. Picnicked on the summit stripped to the waist. The hill was deserted save for the several hundred other climbers who had the same idea.

Re: Who will be at he Royal Wedding with their camera?

Ross,
I think you may have a bit of a misty eyed view of the UK. I live in Glasgow and apart from one source who shocked me with his views I have not heard a positive word on this event - other than that it's a day off work. That's not to say it is all negative but most people I know simply cannot relate the pomp, ceremony, expense and inequality this demonstrates to their ordinary lives - especially whilst we are in a recession. Closure of schools, care in the community schemes, old folks homes and the like whilst these people float around in their publicly paid for finery certainly rankles with me. I know the argument that it brings in more tourist dollars than it costs - but what of the class inequality it perpetuates - you don't have that in Australia.
Frankly I'm for a republic - at least an elected head of state can be replaced every 4-5 years.
