Juvenile Goldfinch

I don't usually post photos of birds on feeders but as this greedy juvenile Goldfinch had spent much of the day eating copious amounts of seed in my garden the other day, I thought a photo was the least I could ask for in exchange. The lack of a red face does make them look remarkably different to the adult birds.

E-M1 and 74-300 II.

Re: Juvenile Goldfinch

If it's anything like the ones on my feeders it is - eat one chuck two on the ground, eat one chuck two on the ground... repeat until full.

Spot on Gus. Mind you the Greenfinches are just as bad if not worse. The Dunnocks and Blackbirds soon clean up the waste seed, though.

Re: Juvenile Goldfinch

Good capture Mike, nice. Our goldfinches love nyjer seed, and we put it in a feeder designed for it. You should just watch a big fat pigeon sitting there, struggling to pick the seeds out one by one through the tiny hole!!

Re: Juvenile Goldfinch

Nice shot, still waiting for our little flock to bring their fledglings to our garden, I think they are cute at this stage
