Olympus 300mm F4 PRO IS

Hi everyone.
After taking shots all week & yesterday with this very recently acquired lens I have decided that at the moment due to the weight only I am not going to be able to use this lens. Without boring you with my medical details , I have had a recent major operation ( end of last year ) and am a bit restricted on weight I can carry for the next 12-18months. I thought the 300mm was 1250grams ish including the tripod mount but as Im sure you are aware its PLUS the tripod mount. Don't get me wrong its not a super heavy lens its just for me it means I would only be able to use it very minimally over the next 12-18 months by using it on a tripod ( more weight to carry! )

Condition is very good / excellent. Its definitely not mint . It does have some signs of use which I will illustrate with images. The signs of use are all towards the bottom part of the lens. There is a small amount of paint loss & wear which hopefully can be seen in the pictures. The tripod mount also shows signs of wear & paint loss as per pictures, pretty minimal but definitely visible. The silver outside lens mount also shows light signs of wear.
Glass is superb with no marks scratches hazing fog or other issues. As far as I am aware the lens has always had a filter attached although I am the second owner so its difficult to 100% guarantee this.
The lens works exactly as it should as far as I can tell. Very fast auto focus very sharp and contrasty straight from F4. All the additional functions and manual focus work as they should do to.
Its Boxed complete with everything apart from a piece of foam packaging so includes the cover mount if you remove the tripod mount and the lens bag. Also of course both lens caps. It comes with a Hoya UV Pro Filter which honestly needs a bit of a clean. The outer cover box is fairly worn. The main box is in good condition.
Just to point out that I didnt own this lens from new as I bought it from a private seller, so Im afraid I dont have any original paperwork or warranty details. As far as I am aware the lens was pretty lightly used ( some of the time on a tripod ) and it is approx 15-18 months old.
I have bought and sold off this forum a number of times in the past and have recenly bought a E-M1 battery grip and am in the process of buying a 45mm f1.8. I have a perfect 100% positive record on ebay over the last 13 years. I am happy to verify further details with any potential buyer to verify I am myself & 100% genuine. Payment is preferred by bank transfer but I will accept paypal friends & family however I do not want to pay the paypal fees so it would have to be a ZERO charge to me transaction if on Paypal.
I am out a large part of today so I will try and get images uploaded asap.

Price 1400 now amended to include the postage (UK ONLY)
Regards
Tim

Re: Olympus 300mm F4 PRO IS

You do realise that you can replace the tripod mount with a lightweight plastic "decoration" ring don't you?

Re: Olympus 300mm F4 PRO IS

Hi yes I did try it without the tripod mount and also detached my battery grip. It was still borderline for me at the moment and I much preferred it with both items attached. Regards Tim

Re: Olympus 300mm F4 PRO IS

I'm sorry to hear about the medical condition. It's a shame having to part with a lens like this but someone will get good value at the price.

It was my fault entirely a badly researched purchase.I am too much of an impulsive buyer at times hence my G.A.s problem!

Re: Olympus 300mm F4 PRO IS

I have decided it would be better to include the postage in the price so its now
1400 posted . I will leave it exclusively on here for a couple of weeks hoping it sells here rather than advertising elsewhere.Regards Tim

I don't want one, I don't want one, I don't want one!....has she gone yet
Sorry Tim I've decided to compromise and go with the new x2 converter on my 40-150. But it was a very close thing. Have a bump on me. Good luck with the sale.

I'd hoped the x2 was only going to be a couple of months away Tim so I could claim it as a birthday present

Re: Olympus 300mm F4 PRO IS

Well happy birthday in advance, and who knows it may come out sooner than anyone expects! Could be a very interesting option on the 300mm F4 too I guess for a FOV of 1200mm @F8.
Kind Regards
Tim

Re: Olympus 300mm F4 PRO IS

Quick update, I have had a bit of interest but the lens remains unsold so far. I will leave it exclusively here until 11/04/2019 and then if still unsold I will advertise elsewhere in addition to here. Price remains at 1400 including postage ( UK ONLY ). I have updated the description with as much info as possible.
Regards
Tim
