Cryptostimatid Mite Through Photar 25mm

This is a typical, medium-sized, mite to be found on the moist undersides of rotten twigs on soil in my garden. These are in a group of detritus feeding mites.

The short working distance (ca 20mm) of the lens made lighting difficult so I used 2 free-standing (RC TTL) guns instead of my usual 3.

Olympus EM-1 (manual mode), Leitz Wetzlar Photar 25mm f2.5 macro at f16, ISO 250, twin TTL flash, hand-held with support..

The extension was chosen to match, in another project, the magnification of the Laowa 25mm but it was actually slightly wider, ca 3.7mm instead of the intended 3.5mm. The image has, coincidentally, been cropped to show ca 3.5mm.

I tried to moderate the highlights, but without success. These mites are very shiny.

The body is willing but the mind is weak.
