Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5/ Samyang 7.5mm

I want a fisheye lens. Not sure which to get, the Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5 Ultra Wide-Angle Fisheye Lens or the Samyang 7.5mm.
Any show some pictures taken with either, or can point me to a comparison website?

Rokinon & Samyang 7.5mm f3.5 are the same lens. Samyang produce lenses under various names, and Rokinon is one of them.

There are a few more of my recent ones in the gallery here too.
It's a fun little lens Dave.

Re: Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5/ Samyang 7.5mm

I had the Rokinon 7.5mm and replaced it with the Samyang 7.5mm. Exact same lens, but the Rok I had was silver and the Samyang is black (which is why I changed!).

They also sell under the name Walimex (in Germany, I believe), but the lenses are still the same.

Hear a lot on the De Fish a fisheye lens. Anyone have any recommendation to do that to a Samyang 7.5mm? is there a standalone program for that?

The Imadio plugins for Photoshop are good (formerly known as Fisheye Hemi). They do not lose as much corner info as some other methods, and although they leave some straight lines curved, this can be corrected using the warp tool in PS.

There are some widely distributed free lens profiles which can be used in Camera Raw, but the rectiliniar one in particular loses a lot of pixels and produces very soft corners. In the days when The Luminous Landscape site was free Michael Reichmann did a very good tutorial using the warp tool to defish - the main aim of his method was again to lose as few corner pixels as possible.

Re: Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5/ Samyang 7.5mm

I have bought a Samyang 7.5mm wide angle for mft and had a play with it.

Looking for something to correct lens distortion I consulted 'the Oracle'(Google - your best friend) and found several posts by others with the same problem.

I use Photoshop CS6, because I do not want to be tied in to a monthly contract, despite any advantages offered. Problem being lens profiles are limited and Adobes' Lens Profile Downloader was discontinued in 2017/8, so no go there.

I may have found a workaround by downloading Adobe DNG(Digital Negative Converter) which includes some lens profiles.

Latest for CS6 was 9.1.1. This was installed and the file opened in Lightroom.

I used the profile for Nikon 16mm which seems to work - see my Album 'Samyang' for before and after images. [images not posted here as not sure how to get full sized images into post - you are welcome to import them if you wish]

[Sapper] Might be worth a try.

If you have the last stand-alone version of Lightroom, it has a profile for Samyang lenses, including the 7.5mm fisheye.

Re: Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5/ Samyang 7.5mm

FWIW I used another profile to defish the 9mm Olympus bodycap lens in Lightroom.
I can't remember which one but it worked OK though I didn't actually like the end result.
