Re: Olympus OM-D E-M1 with HLD-7 Battery Grip

Received in todays post.

John, you said both were in superb condition ....... I beg to differ

Both are LIKE BRAND NEW

So much so that I feel guilty for getting them at such a low price, I know 'a sale is a sale' and you set the price but hey I don't think I will be able to sleep at night.

TBH I had been 'mulling over' an exc++ example at Ffordes for £489.00 + a further £99.00 for the grip, and another tenner for delivery, totalling £598.00.
3.5 clicks on the shutter I was prepared to go for it when I saw yours.

So in the interest of fairness and to help me sleep at night I have just sent you another £39.00 meaning the body has cost the same as the one at Ffordes but I still have a great deal because the grip is effectively 'free' saving me £99.00 and a tenner on delivery.

I feel happier now and trust you welcome the gesture.

Thanks again John, and I whole heartedly recommend you as a seller to everyone on the forum

Re: Olympus OM-D E-M1 with HLD-7 Battery Grip

Having just sent a PM to Simon, I would like to record my grateful thanks to him for his excellent gesture. I have bought items from him in the past and he has always been a gentleman to deal with. As I said to him, I would not want to be responsible for keeping him awake at nights so I have gratefully accepted his extra payment. He embodies the great spirit of this lovely user group.

It was the least I could do John as they are IMO basically brand new. Like most people I too enjoy getting a bargain but not if it makes me feel like I'm taking the shirt off the sellers back as well.

Hopefully a good night sleep awaits me

Thank you too for your kind words, it has always been a pleasure both selling to you and now purchasing off of you

Kind regards, Simon

The Christmas spirit alive and well at e-group.uk.net! I guess a good deal is when both sides are happy with the result. Nicely done!

IMO this is quite a unique forum, I can barely recollect any instances of malice, snobbery, rudeness etc shown by any member to another. We really do try to help and encourage each other, in other words embody the meaning of 'being kind to thy neighbour'.

You know, for quite some time I had been without an Olympus camera (primarily shooting film with my Leica rangefinder ) but I have continued to visit this forum on an almost daily basis and make the occasional post, I feel too much a part of it to have stayed away.

My eyesight is not what it once was and even rangefinder focussing is now a bit hit and miss, so as you may know I very recently purchased a PEN-F which shall take over the role of the Leica, film and D&P is getting too expensive to waste on OOF prints, plus the PEN-F is bloody gorgeous This camera will typically be used for street and family shoots, the E-M1 for my other interest ..... bird photography, just need the 'right' lens to go with it now.

Kind regards, Simon

I somehow knew that lens would be suggested

Sold a 90-250mm F2.8 early last year, kind of wish I had kept it now ..... hey-ho

Actually Paul, what I am thinking about is the Pana/Leica 100-400mm, would also pair nicely with the 12-100mm F4 Olympus. Great weatherproof outfit for our ( British ) typically unpredictable weather, or should I say "predictably wet weather" which is a test I do not want to put the PEN-F and its primes through.

Kind regards, Simon

Oh hell, I've succumbed Paul, resistance 'was' futile and too many good deals going down for the next few days, so .....

.... 40/150 Pro & TC plus 300 F4 on their way.

Guess I had better shift the last of the valuable film kit and for good measure put the C.C. in a concrete cast and drop it in the Atlantic

Seriously though, I think the last of the Leica's are going to have to go as I am now ( well IMO ) officially an 'Olympian' through and through.

Great camera's, even greater lenses, and this even greater forum of like minded folk

Simon
