Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

Back to the memory lane posts - I attended a talk by Victor Blackman at Hayling Island Camera Club some time in the mid 70s - his talk was pretty good. Even earlier than that I think I remember buying cheap paper (ex military surplus) from Harringay Photographic in the late 50s, it was on a very stiff and I think described as water proof.

I think I would be inclined to pay the extra 46 and go with Amazon UK.

I see that Amazon have also got the body only on at 1117.43 if you're not too concerned about delivery speed.

However since I've already got my E-M1, I won't be buying another!

When I first arrived at Harringay Photographic the place was a tip. The shop had several storeys and there was evidence of some 'illicit' movie making some time in the past upstairs! But basically the place was full of ex-military gear, much of it wrapped in waxed paper, from projector lamps to RAF aircraft surveillance cameras and lenses. Much of this was very sellable. We had boxes full of junk that customers loved to spend hours sifting through

We also sold our own-brand film and processing chemicals; BARFEN (re-sold short-dated stock, often from Fuji). At one point it was being manufactured in some back rooms in the shop.

Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

The 'foretelling'

Friday 1st November, at approximately 11am when a mobile phone rings and is answered. The caller (from Watford) says
"Hello, just to let you know that your camera is in stock."

well it could happen , couldn't it?

I wouldn't hold your breath!! All I was told via emai (from Watford)l today was that the latest batch were on their way!
Given that on 3rd October I was told that judging by where I was on the list I would be getting a call very soon, I think I've given up hope of getting one any time soon!!

It seems that along the line we have both had the same info .....maybe you are right, and I should put my optimism back in its box, why can I not learn to forget about it and not get my hope up on a Friday!

A 'have been grumpy at times' middle aged bloke in Herts (only about 45 minutes from Watford on (a clear run))

Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

Well just got an email from Andre "my man from Olympus" and he's sent me the tracking details and confirmed it's gone out tonight on next day delivery so still a chance it might arrive before I have to leave.

Got to say Andre has been more than helpful, not many companies would be answering emails at 7.30 at night!

Re: Message from Olympus UK re E-M1 supply issues

I also have an emailled invoice from Olympus Europe for the 12-40 kit. Is it really on its way or is this to comply with the 30 day law!
