Reflections

Last year I was everso impressed with Steve Cains images from Salisbury Cathedral So one day off we went. I had been wanting to visit the Rt. Hon. Mr. Ted Heath's home "Arundels" so we tied them all in to a day out in Salisbury

Salisbury Cathedral offers some amazing Architecture ...

Most of all I wanted to capture some Reflections in the Font

and more ...

and more ...

TBH none are much "cop" BUT I did enjoy playing about with my camera and settings and if there WERE NOT soo many PEOPLE about and, the SUN HAD not gone in - I would have posted here the "could do better" images

Ho! Hum! Just posted these really to say what a great time we had ... We also spent a fair amount of time in two lovely parks; wandering about the Old parts of Salisbury - some fab buildings and doors and locks soo olde'

and Arundells - well no photos inside - but it was a pleasure to see the home of such a great man and what a sailor and philantropist

Take a look at Steves images of Salisbury Cathedral and see how much better his are and the opportunites for a revisit

Re: Reflections

Nice work Chevvy.
I particularly like the reflections. Pity they let people in when we want to take some serious images.

Re: Reflections

Did you have a tripod and a empty building to work with?

Its difficult to get images like those you are aiming at. Many cathedrals don't allow photography.

It difficult to comment properly as there is exif data available to see what you did. The last one is suffering from camera shake.

Re: Reflections

Nice ideas to start, and now you know what you want next time, so a very valid exercise indeed.

Re: Reflections

Next time set off the fire alarm to clear the cathedral. You'll have at least 10-15 mins to get your shots before the fire brigade and police arrive.
Have seen shots of this cathedral swimming pool sometime before. Very impressive if a little gimmicky Chevvy.

That is certainly SOME font Chevvy!
You would have to keep a tight hold on the babies!
The reflections are amazing - I would love to be there and see them.

Re: Reflections

Focus stacking may help with some of those.

Re: Reflections

That must have been difficult to get a good angle to get everything you wanted in shot asthe font is so large. The reflections are great, what a temptation to dabble fingers and cause some ripples. I especially like the shots where you got the overflow spout in, oof it definitely gives the feeling that water is rushing over it even if it wasn't.

One of the reasons I do post imperfect images, is so that others "lurking" can see that people here do not go Rabid, chewing the bones after the fat & meat is gone

I know this encourages, lurkers to either become Members or those already Members, Post and some email me with questions which I am happy to answer or refer the question Life is not just about the NOW but Investment in the FUTURE TOO

If all images here, were Perfecto mundi few would post and, most would look in for just one glance, some would feel intimidated

Urm Alf no tripod as we had been walking about the City and the two parks and Arundells I was travelling light Yes your quite right Camera Shake attack BUT that last, is the frame of the image I want, but perfect

Empty building NO CHANCE the visitors to Salisbury Cathedral is only eclipsed by Stonehenge and Winchester Cathedral ... BUT next time I shall only visit the Cathedral and I have my "shots to capture in my mind and notebook"

I hope some others have been to this fab place and may post their images

Re: Reflections

Chevvy - I have just had another look at your reflections - well worth a return visit - and in the last photo - can you see the little man at the head of the photo, who obviously is not, but looks as though he is, dangling his feet in the font! gave me an extra smile!
