Guess who are back

Yes, the Peregrine are back!

They actually arrived back in January but I did not know due to the problems I have had this year. I spent a very enjoyable 40 minutes with them today and enjoyed every second. Both male and female were present.

Here are a few of the images I took today.

Flying across the cliff face.

Landing on a perch close to the top of the cliff.

Flying in over the cliff face.

Flying up the cliff face.

Hurtling down the cliff face at high speed.

Hope you like these.

Re: Guess who are back

It's good news that they are back and it's good to see that you are getting out. Hopefully your problems are improving and we can look forward to more treats like this on the forum. The last shot in particular is stunning.

Thank you John. The experience was thrilling. I had forgotten how quickly the can move and had to re-learn how to capture them with the camera of course

Peter
I saw one a couple of years ago when on a Thames Barge trip from Ipswich. It was on the top of one of the piers of the Orwell bridge and I was told this was its regular spot. May be worth looking there.

Regards.

Re: Guess who are back

Thanks for the tip Peter...I had heard that they did use the Orwell Bridge some time ago..need to check that they are still there...only 10 mins from me so worth a look.
There seem to be quite a few Short eared owls around here at the moment...but just been too busy with work to get out where they have been seen. Out near Minsmere/Eastbridge area today, but as usual rain forecast when I am in that area!!

What lens where you using, as I don't yet have a focal length longer than 150, but am saving hard for a bigger lens..50-200 or 70-300 for you ??

Good morning Peter

I use the Bigma (Sigma 50-500) which unfortunately is no-longer produced by Sigma for the E-fit. I blame Olympus for their absolutely mindless statement on the launch of the E5. Who ever heard of a manufacturer launching a superb new product and at the same time shoot it in the foot. But that is another story.

I have spent the last 3 years following this pair of birds and you tend to get to understand them better. This allows you to practise shots and improve your technique.
