Okehampton Castle

Took this today, E410, 9-18 lens hand held but not really enough light, supposed to be a colour shot but the detail wasn't there in the sky Kinda works in BW though with a touch of IR filter applied? As always, comments welcome.

Re: Okehampton Castle

If you have the RAW version of this it might be worth pushing it through Photomatix or PShop - as the sky is a white out, and the ruins are almost lost. HDR processing will recover some of the blown sky whilst bringing out the darker area detail - even off a single image.

Yeah I like the grainy mono shades of it, but that fence bottom right irritates me : but there isn't enough meat on it to crop ... hmmm. What to do?

Thanks MusicMan, unfortunatley I am not that good with PS, I don't know how to do HDR with only one photo. I do agree though sky blown and detail in ruins lost, maybe I shouldn't have applied the IR filter in PS?

Chainsaw and reshoot? I know what you mean I was trying to use the fence as leading lines but it hasn't worked in BW, trouble is the dynamic range is too much for a colour shot. Another time I will probably use a tripod and take the shot from inside the fence to remove it. Thanks for the comments.

Perhaps you could send me the RAW and I'll have a go for ya?
