11-22 v 9-18 ( 4 thirds, not micro)

Hi all

After some advice- I currently have the 9-18- doesn't get used a massive amount.
I am considering swapping it for the 11-22- purely because 11 ( or 10 if you believe the hype :0 ) is about as wide as it goes, and ( I know this is stupid) it would fall into the grades of my other lenses- 14-54, 50-200 ( both non swd) in terms of weatherproofing .
Anyone got any pros/cons on this idea ?

Where are you in Derbyshire, I'm in Buxton, and have one you could try out for size, though it's not for sale.

Re: 11-22 v 9-18 ( 4 thirds, not micro)

I recently sold my 11-22 as I never used it much and had not used it for ages. It was a lovely lens though as far as I can remember. It always surprised me how nicely it did close ups of flowers. Not something I'd expected.

Hi Bill

Thanks for the kind offer- We have just had a new arrival ( of the non-camera kind) so our Peak visits ( we are Swadlincote) are curtailed for the next few weeks , or I would snap your hand off to try.

Phill, so what do you use for wide angled shots ?

I have one and I don't mind letting it go BUT you just missed the almost free transport to the High Wycombe. I am about 1/2 way around the globe

Re: 11-22 v 9-18 ( 4 thirds, not micro)

I tend to use the 12-100 pretty much all the time now. I find 12mm is generally wide enough for most things. I do still have the 9-18mm but haven't used that for ages either. I also have a little Samyang 7.5mm fisheye lens which I do use occasionally as it's really great fun and was very cheap. All micro 4/3s pretty much now except I still have the old 50mm f2 and the 70-300mm 4/3s lenses. Both have useful macro capability which is why I've kept them.
