Unfortunately modern Liberals cannot accept that others may hold different views to their own.

To quote a Prime Minister from better times:
Freedom will destroy itself if it is not exercised within some sort of moral framework, some body of shared beliefs, some spiritual heritage transmitted through the Church, the family, and the school.
Is that not exactly what we are seeing now?

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

Just going right back to the beginning of this thread...

I just phoned my insurance company to renew my policy, so asked what modifications would make my insurance invalid if I didn't notify them, the reply was basically anything that fundamentally changes the performance and safety of the car, so if I were to put winter tyres, the same size as the O/E ones - no worries, a different size - notify them. Stickers no issues. Exhausts etc, wheels etc (if they are different size) notify. So as I expected a common sense approach. I think that there maybe companies that would try the antics described, but not the more reputable ones it seems!

Probably even at 40mph it gripped better. Otherwise, acceleration lifted the front quite a lot.

Really? I'm still here and the car was scrapped when it finally rusted too much.

Re: Car modifications - is it or isn't it?

My Landy has had the following changed

Engine (from petrol to diesel)
Main gearbox
Transfer Gearbox
Suspension
Anti Roll bars
Electrics (including getting the blue lights and sirens working for off rad use only!)

Insurer said - just send us a picture of the vehicle and we will agree the value …

That's the benefit of running on classic vehicle insurance you deal with car people not computer programs

regards
Andy

Some models of car can be ordered, new, with dozens, sometimes hundreds, of feature combinations. Perhaps an official listing of these should be submitted when applying for cover?

Very true, I’ve done exactly that in the past. Not sure how it would happen once the car is second hand though, perhaps the selling dealership should be forced to report the exact details of each car sold. Shouldn’t be too onerous as the 1st buyer gets a spec sheet / receipt thing. They know what the car is from the reg anyway, so it’s just a bit more info.
