Re: Two additional Olympus M.ZUIKO PRO lenses to launch in 2015

It's easy enough to get rough dimensions. It needs a 75mm diameter front element so you can scale from the published photos.
There's plenty of 300mm f/4 lenses out there for a guide to weight and you can use them to check your estimated directions.

I guess not, but I like to see one to gauge if I need to start saving like crazy.
I have asked but unfortunately there will be no mock-ups.

Cheap rates on the 40-150/2.8?????? Having seen the train fare I've decided not to go but a few hundred off a tasty lens might change my mind

Latest news on the 40-150 f/2.8 is November. I expect working examples will be in display at Photokina in September.

Thanks Ian, as that's been pretty much expected by those that were realistic on its timing.

Re: Two additional Olympus M.ZUIKO PRO lenses to launch in 2015

Any rumor on a M.Zuiko 12-60? I tried the 4/3 on my E-M1 with adapter and it was huge and sluggish. I loved the 16-85 Nikkor on my APS Nikons. It's a great range for one-lens walk-around.

I can't see them making one. The 12-40, though a little shorter, fills that space and there are probably other priorities to satisfy. But that's not to say a 3rd party won't make one.

Re: Two additional Olympus M.ZUIKO PRO lenses to launch in 2015

12-60mm would be too close to 12-40mm if it started at F2.8 and too close to the 12-50mm if it had a slower aperture, but how about a revamp of the 14-140mm perhaps not so long so it can be a bit brighter, a 14-100mm F3.5-4.0 falls nicely in the middle of the current lineup and would not be ridiculous.

Re: Two additional Olympus M.ZUIKO PRO lenses to launch in 2015

Hmmm, a 14-100 might be nice or a 14-90. Would an f/4 constant aperture be too bulky, heavy and expensive? The engineering for a pro-quality super zoom seems daunting. Certainly the kit-type lenses in this range from all makers offer disappointing image quality. I had three Nikkor 18-140 zooms and all were bad; it's one reason I switched to OMD.

Re: Two additional Olympus M.ZUIKO PRO lenses to launch in 2015

I would not normally post a link to a rumour web site but this post shows a size comparison of the pipeline lenses against the existing 12-40 Pro.

That 300mm does look rather nice. Much more convenient than a 600mm on a full-frame 35mm DLSR.
