Not a good start to retirement

I retired at the end of December. After a year during which My recently acquired asthma was being problematic my GP decided to get my heart checked out just in case. My cholesterol was fine etc so no big deal. Wrong after ECG, CT scan and angiogram they found an 80% blockage and inserted a stent. I started to feel better and was even cleared to go on my trip to Malaysia and SWMBO said OK to a ONE with a 12-40😄. So off we went within days of arrival or group of six was rent by petty arguments and split up, which left me , who was not expecting to drive, at the wheel for about 1200 miles. Within a day of this I developed a cough that turned into the worst chest infection I have ever had, so most of my pics were of hotel rooms. It has taken three courses of antibiotics to get rid of it and I am just recovering. It gets worse. While not concentrating I let the New EM1 drop onto the floor. It seemed alright and the pics seemed alright but subsequent attempts to fit the flash showed that the hot shoe was bent and then the rear wheel on the top plate only worked intermittently😰. So it is being picked up tomorrow.
Let's hope the year improves from here
Jim

Re: Not a good start to retirement

Really sorry to hear this Jim, certainly not a good start.

Sounds like the Docs have got you fixed up, just needs Oly to fix the camera and you'll be good for a restart. Please take extra care of yourself in the current Euro/Saharan smog attack.

Sincere best wishes.

Re: Not a good start to retirement

Sorry to hear of your rough time, Jim. At least they caught your heart problem in time, and the camera can be repaired. And by the time it is all sorted, it will be summer.

Don't be put off - I can recommend retirement most highly. Except for the fact that I seem to be busier than ever

All the best ... John
