E-M10 shutter repair

Does anyone know if Olympus has a fixed price repair list? Whilst in France last week my son's E-M10 mk1 shutter packed up and, given the age of the camera, it's probably not worth getting repaired. I recently had one of my E-M1's shutter replaced and that cost 143, so I recon a similar price. I don't want to have to go through the process of arranging a collection, quotation and then find it's not worth repairing.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: E-M10 shutter repair

Steve, no need to send it in, send Olympus support an email, they are very helpfull, they'll send you a fixed price quote, i imagine the price quoted will be based on the model you want repairing.

Re: E-M10 shutter repair

A guy on another forum had his shutter fail on a EM1 so he took it out and just uses E shutter.

130 quoted. The end of the road I think, time for a newer replacement.

Re: E-M10 shutter repair

I had the E-M10 Mki and the Mkii is a very worthy replacement. Better stabilisation and EVF and the changes to the buttons and handling make it nicer to use too.
My Mki went to my brother in law for 20 more than your repair quote, it might be worth something as trade in even faulty?

Camera Jungle have a couple at the moment and 20% off with the code SEPT20 on their homepage.

Cheers AMc

The camera is actually my son's but he doesn't have any spare cash at the moment. I'll look into the Camera Jungle site, could be a Christmas present for him though.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: E-M10 shutter repair

Just visited Camera Jungle and they had a MkII in immaculate condition. The 20% off code worked and I got it for 224 plus a fiver delivery.

So, thanks for the heads-up AMc, well chuffed and it will be his Chrissy pressy

Re: E-M10 shutter repair

Fantastic - I bought my E-M10ii from Camera Jungle about 18 months ago and I've been very pleased with it.

100% disclosure - mine arrived with some minor scratches on the viewfinder bump. It's description rating was "Mint" and that says explicitly "No visible marks, wear or scratches".

I contacted them and asked them for a partial refund for the condition which took a few days but they did pay me.

https://www.camerajungle.co.uk/condition-guide

They offer a 12m guarantee which I think is very good for used items.

I would take a thorough look at the camera when it arrives and put it through it's paces to make sure you're happy before you pack it away for December.

The 20% code is on the homepage for everything - I'm tempted by the 75-300mm lens they have on there but I know I don't really need it and I bought a 12-40mm PRO not long ago...

Re: E-M10 shutter repair

I bought a Mk2 from a forum member earlier this year. It was sensibly priced because of a scratch on the LCD and I've been very pleased. All the photos in my Fishy Tale saga posted a couple of months ago were taken with it.

I'll certainly give a through check over and check the shutter count. Looks like he will be getting it a lot sooner than Christmas now - he managed to get the funding for his final post-grad course yesterday. He's very chuffed at the moment and so a bit of a celebration is in order

Cheers,

Steve
