Brownsea Island sunset. Longer lens debate.

So, from our new toe hold on the south coast: We went for a walk on the sea front at sunset yesterday and the brisk breeze made for fairly clear air.

So here is Sandbanks and Brownsea island at sunset taken from 20 miles away.

To some extent I'm frustrated that my cheap but good 40-150 doesn't have more reach at the long end.
Equally it is light and convenient and most of the time atmospherics ruin your long range images anyway. Just now and then the air is clear enough to get something passable crisp..

So do I blow money on something longer? It needs to be sharp but light.

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

Re: Brownsea Island sunset. Longer lens debate.

The 75-300 is pretty good (up to 275mm) and not too heavy but nothing will beat the 40-150mm for portability. With nice results like this does it matter?
Cameras: E-M5, E-PM2, OM40, OM4Ti
Lenses (M.Zuiko Digital): 7-14mm/F2.8, 12-40mm/F2.8, 40-150mm/F2.8+TC1.4x, 12-50mm/F3.5-6.3, 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 EZ, M.ZD 40-150 F4-5.6 R, 75-300mm/F4.8-6.7 Mk1, 12mm/F2, 17mm/F1.8
Lenses (OM Zuiko): 50mm/F1.2, 24mm/F2, 35mm/F2.8 shift
