Re: DIY Kruger safari - admin

You sound more interested in the LR than the safari! Having at various times visited Tsavo (E&W), Amboseli, Nairobi, Mara, Hell's Gate, Naivasha, Nakuru, Baringo and the other Rift Valley lakes I can fully recommend Kenya.

Sorry - yes I am an LR nut and I apologise for distracting things

I am actually also very interested in the idea of visiting South Africa and also Uganda (where my grandparents lived for 10 years and I visited aged 2). It has only been the cost that has held us back and it's really useful to read all these threads on doing it yourself

regards
Andy

Re: DIY Kruger safari - admin

Cost can certainly be an issue if you go for one of the upmarket luxury options and I doubt you can go anywhere for less than we manage in the Kruger. You might save a little by using a tent but not much although you can certainly save by self catering, which many locals do. A number of upmarket holidays described as being in the Kruger are actually in one of the private reserves to the west of the National Park.
