Tripod pricing error?

Amazon pricing can be puzzling.

The “Rollei City Traveler Mini”, a high-quality low-mass carbon-fibre tripod in either a green or titanium colour is £137.99. A lot of money for something so small, but not a bad price for the quality.

But order it in orange and the price for the identical model drops to £74.37. Amazon don’t highlight that fact.

I think there’s a mistake though, because the small icon linking to that tripod shows a monopod instead.

All that matters to me is that I got a stonking bargain! 😜

Re: Tripod pricing error?

I wouldn't like an orange tripod, but for the price saving I'd be quite happy to spray it

Re: Tripod pricing error?

Apparently, it is "especially designed for DSLM cameras". Their grammar sucks

I don't know who owns the Rollei name nowadays but I notice this is actually by 'Fotopro'. The Fotopro FPH-420 looks extremely similar and is priced at £89.99 in black on Amazon.

At least in that colour it’s far harder to forget and leave behind 😉

Re: Tripod pricing error?

The 3 camels show it was reduced yesterday.

It's showing on Amazon with the previous, higher price struck through.

The colours for various models are all selected by icons of 2 tripods and a monopod, and even 2 of the monopod colours are selected by choosing tripod icons.

Seems like a genuine recent reduction, but it's worth noting that the titanium colour tripod was reduced to only £50 last month, and green version doubled in price yesterday, so there have been better deals available. When there's a history of fluctuating prices, with stuff like this it's worth setting up price alerts for each colour.

P.S. In the days when Amazon would refund any price reduction within 30 days (?) of purchase, I would set up price alerts for everything I'd bought and get straight on chat and claim back the price difference if they dropped in price. Now they make you return items and re-purchase at the new lower price.
