Any Four Thirds camera, not just Olympus - after all the prize is compatible with all such cameras.

Unless they are simply expecting such high quality prints that Ian wants a copy of them for his walls...?

RAW or JPEG - I also think it would be OK if you supplied the print yourself if you preferred. It's simply that we feel the best way to fully evaluate the finalists is with prints rather than low resolution on-screen pix.

I discussed this with Olympus and it would be something else in the range to a similar value - the 300 is rather more expensive! LOL

Naturally, Olympus would be delighted if more professionals adoted the E-System.

From the competition point of view, we simply tried to make it as simple and accessible as possible - the theme of 'PEOPLE' shouldn't be too difficult for people to attempt.

Sorry but I don't understand the difference between a 'full resolution file' and a 'printed file'

In the highly unlikely event that I reached such dizzy heights as the last 10 (pause for laughter - ) what would I actually need to send in to qualify for the last stage?

I'm assuming I'd email a RAW or JPG file. Would that be right?

Re: Win a 1100 Olympus DZ ED 7-14 superzoom - the details are up

Hi E-1 Fan,

When you output images for display on the web, they are usually saved (when using Photoshop for example) with a dpi (dots per inch) of 72, as this is the optimum granularity a monitor is able to display images at. Any more dpi is surplus to requirements as the monitor cannot display more than 72 dpi. The down side is that the file size is increased with dpi value - hence when using 'save for web' one gets significantly smaller file sizes.

When you print a photograph, printers are capable of printing images at a much higher resolution that monitors are of displaying them, and so you could print to a printer using 240/300 dpi or even greater. The printer is capable of printing this number of dots per inch, and thus what you see on the printed page is always better than what you see on a computer monitor screen.

So, if you're lucky enough to be selected as one of the 10 finalists (and there's every reason to think you could ), you will need to supply your image for printing i.e. with a greater dpi. Your PP app, or lightroom will allow you to do this. Shout if you need further clarification.

Hope that explains things for ya...

Cheers John

It's all a bit Greek to me. I only ever print to my lil' HP inkjet so proper printing is usually off my radar.

But I think I've got it now. Phew I think need a kebab

Hope you enjoy it... the Kebab that is...

So, what PP apps do you use...? and what workflow app do you use also...? If you can let me know these, as long as I have them I can pop up some screenshots for you to show you where these settings are.

Question Re: Win a 1100 Olympus DZ ED 7-14 superzoom - the details are up

Ian,

I've mentioned this competition in the forum attached to the site I use, because I was sure I'd read that you'd like us to spread the word. Trouble is I can't find that post anywhere now.

I wrote it here
http://forums.shutterchance.com/foru...opic=48&post=1

If it's the wrong thing to say I can ask the site admin to remove it.
