Olympus - Give us a clue...

...please.

I'm trying to get more out of my E-3 and can't afford to spend on high class lenses to help. I can afford to purchase the replacement E-3 and only then I may be willing to spend on getting the results needed by buying the glass.

I am getting impatient and don't really wish to go elswhere, so a clue as to a date would solve my problem.

Regards. Barr1e

Re: Olympus - Give us a clue...

'fraid it's like Christmas when you are very young, you know that it is probably coming, you know that you are looking forward to it. But your parents (or in this case Ian and Olympus) wont tell you anything about your presents or what is planned.

I can however predict a box, or boxes, wrapping paper and packing materials (the latter two in disproportionate quantities).

Along with joy I can also predict tears, tantrums and quite probably complaints that it wasn't exactly what you wanted.

Come on kids, if you believe in the E-5, clap now, .....LOUDER, I can't hear you.

I'm clapping! I'm clapping! Can't you hear it all the way from down under?

Re: Olympus - Give us a clue...

An E3 replacement will cost say £1500 with a net cost of say£800 allowing for trade in or resale - so what is limiting your picture taking capability with the E3 that the Ex will overcome.

Re: Olympus - Give us a clue...

Well what makes the E3 a more desirable camera over the E1? Pretty much everything, better resolution, dynamic range, higher ISO capability, less noise, better focus, better LCD screen, functionality etc, the E3's successor will be like that over the E3 hopefully.
We could all live with the E1 but the E3 has created possibilities the E1 couldn't.

Re: Olympus - Give us a clue...

I wish I even had an E3 to start with - but never mind, perhaps there'll be more second hand ones at low prices when the new one comes out!

Ooops - I forgot I'm banned from buying any more camera stuff this year!

Re: Olympus - Give us a clue...

Well I'm looking forward to the E-x too, partly to complete my fully weather and dust proof kit (Sigma 150 excepted).
Plus the bonus of E-PL1 levels of image detail (or better) and some other enhancements such as improved ISO and DR in perhaps a slightly smaller package than the E-3 would be just great

Re: Olympus - Give us a clue...

There are some good deals on E-3 on eBay right now - none as cheap as mine was though

Perhaps we can also start speculating about lenses? The E-3 release coincided with the 12-60 SWD, so what new jewel can we expect to be announced as the E-5 "kit" lens?

Re: Olympus - Give us a clue...

I think Zuiko already have a good enough "kit" lens selection, 14-54 and 12-60, I can't see them making another lens around those focal lengths. If they ever do make another zoom I'd guess it will be a 200-400mm f4-5.6 (or possibly f3.5-f4.5 although that would make it a large lens).

Re: Olympus - Give us a clue...

Well, I think it is a clue when E30 bodies are becoming scarce & its price has dropped to $965 AU from Camera Store http://www.camerastore.com.au/Olympu...25_details.htm & with the 14-54 II lens, only $1495 AU.

Prices wouldn't be that low if things weren't looking promising soon.

But, I know, some details would help with the impatience.
