On Friday I took my car to Noosa for a service....

My car was in need of a service and so, on Friday, I took a day off work and drove up from Brisbane to Noosa to have it serviced by the dealer from whom I bought it. I don't really have to do that, but it gives me the excuse to take a day off and visit Noosa. After I had dropped off the car, I asked the courtesy bus driver to drop me off near Hastings Street in the middle of Noosa Heads.

Then off strolling along Main Beach and off into the Noosa National Park.... (I was really lucky that, being a Friday and the first day of winter, the tourists stayed away.)

Noosa Main Beach

Somebody has been having fun with sand castles

Some brave early morning bathers on the first day of winter

The Noosa Surf Club behind Main Beach, which is a great place for lunch on the verandah.

The water was even calm enough for some leisurely kayaking....

... and fishing off one of the many little bays in the Noosa National Park.

At the far eastern end of the National Park are Hell's Gates, south of which is Sunshine Beach.

Sunshine Beach from Hell's Gates.

On the way back from Hell's Gates. - Bathers have joined the fisherman.

WOW! What an idyllic setting, brings back memories of a certain lady with whom I shared a poignant interlude beneath an all concealing mangrove tree

Fabulous sand sculpture Larry, were you tempted to kick it down after you shot the picture!

Re: On Friday I took my car to Noosa for a service....

Too scared to kick down the sand sculpture. - I think that the sculptor was behind me when I took the photo.

I suppose that one of the great things about that walk around the Noosa National Park. - Lots of nicely secluded little bays with trees under which to hide.

You can quote me on this: As far as I am concerned, the Sunshine Coast is about as close as you are going to get to Heaven this side of the Pearly Gates..... Provided you can find a job!

Re: On Friday I took my car to Noosa for a service....

In 2008 our son and his wife were lucky enough to attend the wedding of one of his close friends who was marrying an Australian lass, originally from Queensland, although they were both living in London. The wedding was on the beach at Noosa Heads. Needless to say all the UK guests had a wonderful time - we, as grandparents, had two year old Hannah to stay with us while they were away for three and a half weeks!

Great pix of a splendid location.

Regards,
Anne

Really nice set!
The guy who services my car works from a lockup at the far end of a grubby 1960s housing estate. Different sort of natural experience round there...

Get mine serviced in Wigan, not quite the same ring to it. A lovely set.

Thanks Ann1e. If you walk further down the boardwalk in the first photo, you'll come across a number of grassy glades behind the trees on the beachfront, like the one in the photo below. They are very popular for beach weddings and I believe that the Noosa Council (the local municipality) actually allow people to book these glades for weddings.

Thanks! Sunglasses are a necessity. This causes a bit of a problem for me as I have polarised prescription sunglasses, which polarises the image in the electronic viewfinder of my E-M1 Mk II. I see black with the occasional bits of the image.
