Psyche Lagoon

1st of the day-not the best one
After being filled with environmental water from the Murray River Psyche Lagoon is now drying out to leave salt patterns for me

Thanks for looking, much better to come (IMO) from an hour or so at the one spot.

Re: Psyche Lagoon

While waiting for the light to improve at Psyche Lagoon I played with some of the bits of timber in the area.

Re: Psyche Lagoon

Thank you for your thoughts. I started this thread as bit of light education thread

No idea about the Psyche name. It also used for the original irrigation steam pumps in the area

I feel I mucked the editing on the 2nd last image

can't get too close the water's edge. There's black, soft and rather smelly mud for those who try getting too close . As it was I had to keep moving the boots so I didn't sink in to far. Once the salt dries one can walk on it but it's hard to get to the thinker stuff.

Re: Psyche Lagoon

It's certainly an interesting location and it has yielded some good pictures. The stand-out composition for me is While Waiting 5, because the weathered stumps provide a strong foreground with great shape and texture and link well with the trees in various stages of decay across the lagoon. This implied connection through similarity works as well as any physical leading line to draw the viewer's eye into the picture. The striking green vegetation around these stumps provides welcome contrast to the rest of the scene, which is generally devoid of sustainable life due to the high concentration of salt. I think this is a superbly balanced composition with all the key elements in the right places and working harmoniously together.

Re: Psyche Lagoon

Thank you Lyn and John

Then the eastern sky lit up nicely.

the whole set of photos were taken from the same location. It was about hour from the first to the last photo and it's easy to see the difference the later and better light makes to a our photography however a reasonable photo can be made with any light.

Re: Psyche Lagoon

A great demonstration of how the light can change in a short space of time.
