Shipwreck - well grounding anyway!

Took advantage of yesterday's sunshine to pop down to Calshot.
E-M1 First image with M.ZUIKO ED 14‑150mm 1:4.0‑5.6 the others with FT 70-300 mm + MMF-3

Red Funnel Ferry from Southampton - passed quite close. I suspect their takings may been up over the last few days!

Good view also of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth

Re: Shipwreck - well grounding anyway!

That's what I would call a bad case of parking! Interesting shots.

Surprising as it may seem it was actually a good case of parking. The ship developed a list to starboard shortly after leaving Southampton and the Master & Pilot took the decision to ground her rather than risk a capsize in the shipping channel.

Re: Shipwreck - well grounding anyway!

The crew did rather well, didn't they? But I bet there are more than a few dented cars on that ship now!!

Very interesting shots, thanks for posting.

Re: Shipwreck - well grounding anyway!

The vehicles are mostly tied down although it seems that a JCB went awol. The vehicles may be written off though as there is no way to tell if they are damaged and any subsequent liability would be horrendous.

Nice picture of the Spinnaker Tower.
