Re: Firmware update failed

For what it's worth, on a previous occasion I found it helpful to use a computer without AV, and with the fire wall disabled. I also used a wired Ethernet connection and it proceeded with gusto...
Like you I was getting very frustrated, then proceeded as described above.

Re: Firmware update failed

Haven't updated mine to v 2 yet but when I did the last update 1.something I had a problem and it was the fact I had a none Olympus lens on it at the time. As soon as I put an Oly one on it worked fine.

Re: Firmware update failed

Has anyone got a feel for how likely it is that MYSETs will get wiped? It would be helpful to decide when I'm going to do the updates.

The update to V2.0 wiped my Mysets, the upgrade to V2.1 left them intact.

I hope this helps.

Dave.

Re: Firmware update failed

Updated both cameras today with cards and lenses in place. Download took about 20 to 30 seconds. Install took several minutes.

I'm wondering now if your anti-virus software is getting in the way?

Hi
I have had the same experience .
I have updated my e510 .e1 .e3 .e5 .ep3 and eplm1 with my home computers without any problem. I have three computers 2 windows and one Mac .
However I can not update my em1 at home.
I am using a wireless modem at home and although I can update all my other gear at home NOT the em1
At work I have a windows computer with adsl conection and my em1 updates
Without a problem.
This is a real pain Olympus AUS can't help the transfer speed is faster on my wireless connection at home. I have tried everything I can think of and everything that has been suggested but no go.
So you are not the only one on the planet if you do get a fix please let me know.
Cheers
John

What updater program version are you using? If you have Olympus Viewer 3 1.4 version (released 14th Sept) it will have Updater version 1.2 with it (as the older updater program versions won't work with the E-M1).

The Updater shows version number lower right. Mine is 1.2.

Glad to hear it.

You don't have to take the lens off - in fact the lens has firmware too so to update that, you need to put the lens on...

My updater program is 1.2 too.

Re: Firmware update failed

I updated both of my E-M1 bodies with no problems, it took about 15 minutes each. In all honesty I haven't detected that much has changed but I haven't used the cameras in ernest yet.

Since Updater had previously told me that the lens (12-40 mm) firmware version 1.0 was up to date I felt it would do no harm to follow all the suggestions above 'just in case'.

Ross,
I used Olympus Digital Camera Updater v1.0.3 to successfully update my E-M1 from v2.0 to v2.1 firmware (and previously all updates from V1.0 onwards).

It was only after I'd done the f/w update to 2.1 that I discovered (from this thread) that a later version of ODCU was available.

BTW: The update from v2.0 to v2.1 preserved the MySets.
