Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

I have one but haven't used it since I got the 12-40/2.8 and 35-100/2.8. Like all 10-11x zooms it suffers from various distortions but that is the price you pay for a one size fits all lens. It's good for what it is.

For a super-zoom it's very good. Just don't expect perfection. The same goes for any super-zoom.

Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

It is the perfect lens for days out, holidays etc as it is lightweight, small for what it is and covers pretty much any scenario. It's not the sharpest lens especially at the edges but for record shots it is great.

I lent mine to my dad just before going away to Boston and regretted it. I didn't want anything heavy so just took a couple of primes instead but it wasn't the same when walking around the city; I really missed having the focal range. I ended up using my point and shoot a lot of the time.

Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

I don't have the Olympus version but the Tamron 14-150mm and think it is probably the best all round lens I have. For my purposes, mainly holiday snaps, it is fantastic does macro and the focal range great without having to change lenses. Its also light weight and low cost.

I am surprised with the quality and can accept that you cannot get the same quality images as you could with a prime, but I would add that if you want quality using the likes of a prime you will also need to put a considerable amount of time into framing the shot and getting exposure and focus spot on. So if you're in a studio it would not be suitable but if you want a take anywhere like the look of that image and want to take a quick shot then the 14-150mm if perfect for just that.

Good luck with what you decide.

Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

I bought one a couple of days ago after reading a review on ephotozone, who said its sharpness was outstanding.
I agree. Here is their review. http://www.ephotozine.com/article/ol...s-review-22983
I haven't used mine much, but the I images I have taken so far have been very impressive.

Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

I went for the latest Panasonic alternative as it's a little bit brighter so cant comment on the Olympus but the Panny Lumix is brilliant. Much better than I expected, I'm told the Olympus one is pretty similar but lighter.

Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

Don't know the Olympus but I have the Tamron and having compared it side by side with my 4/3 Pana-Leica it is at least as sharp over most of the frame except the corners. Quite an exceptional lens considering the price.

Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

I used to have the Oly m14-150, it was a good lens at wide to mid zoom but mine one suffered from poor sharpness above about 120mm.
I sold it eventually but do a lot of city break trips now so have just bought the new Lumix 14-140, it is more compact and from reviews seems to be a better lens. I just ordered it so don't have it yet.
I'll be taking it on my city break trips along with the Lumix 7-14 to use with my OMD EM5

Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

I've been very pleased with the 14 -140 over the last few months. It's great for holiday travels. My recent London and the poppy images were taken with it.

Re: 14-150 m.zuiko

The 14-140 arrived today, its the same size as the 12-35 so quite compact and just as well made.
first impressions are really good but need to take it out on a shoot and see how it goes.
