Well, I got one!

On about the fifth camera shop in Melbourne, I quite by chance came across a m4/3 Zuiko 75mm. After promising SWMBO that I would not drag her upstairs into the shop's camera museum, I bought it, at quite a decent saving from UK's prices. It worked out at 642, and I can get the sales tax of 10% back on leaving the country.

Naturally, I told the sales assistant not to wrap it but that I would wear it, so I used it all day. Looks good, but will only tell, and be able to post, on my return to the country.

Re: Well, I got one!

From my experience all camera gear seems taking into account exchange rates cheaper in Oz than UK.

Re: Well, I got one!

Just about anything anywhere on the planet is cheaper than in the UK.
As a nation we are reigning supreme at being ripped off.
Congratulations on your new lens, looking forward to some images.
Funnily enough my brother is working in Oz until January.
I think I'll give him a call.

Re: Well, I got one!

Yes, it was Michaels. Great staff with every camera known to man and a few others besides. They were doing a roaring trade in E-M5s, as was every other camera shop.

Don't think we'll get a chance to meet up with any of you AustrLian friends as there's too much to do here, in the nice warm sun!

Did you come after last Friday's widespread snowfall? At least it did on the eastern ranges right up through NSW (down to 800m in our region).

Don't forget to add UK import duty and VAT over your maximum 'gift' allowance.

Just get blank looks when I mention snow, so no, it's not reached Melbourne.

Off to Philip Island now till Sunday, so may be ex-communicado for a while!
