Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 repair?

This is the current state of my sigma 70-200 "mounted" on my e-3:

Do you think it can still be repaired by any chance?

Re: Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 repair?

It looks to me that the lens has received a hefty clout that has smashed mounting ring from the base of the lens. I would say that the broken plastic part could be easily replaced, I'd ask for a quote from Sigma.

Re: Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 repair?

I recently had a very very similar (well exactly the same!) problem, allbeit with a shorter Sigma lens.

Mine was sent to Sigma UK for a quote and they did an excellent repair job. As far as I recall the turnaround was under a week and it cost about 100.

Here is a link to their repair tariff but they will need to advise you how much work (which band) is required http://www.sigma-imaging-uk.com/support/tarrifs.pdf

I was chuffed as I had thought the lens was a write off.

Re: Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 repair?

I've emailed Sigma today, and they told me that it would cost about 140 and approx. 3-4 weeks.

Hopefully i'll be able to use my 70-200 again
